Vermont Civil War Soldier
This young man is quite possibly a Vermont Civil War soldier. This old tintype was discovered among some vintage papers and letters from a local estate. No information was found with him to identify him but he may be from the East Wallingford, Vermont area. He could possibly be related to the families of Bourne, McCann or Graves, who have lived in this town for several generations. He sure was a handsome young fellow.
Any help identifying him or describing what he's wearing would be greatly appreciated.

Horse with tail over 11 feet long
You have to admit, this is an amazing old photo of a horse. The mane is 7 1/2 feet long and the tail is 11 1/2 feet long. The photo was taken in New Jersey around 1901. Can you imagine the care and upkeep for this horse to maintain all that hair? Wonder how long it took to braid it and I wonder who owned this beautiful creature.

Hey Ma, what's for supper?
A note on this old photo indicates it was taken in California. Nice catch of fish but I sure wouldn't want to clean them. Food preparation can be a nasty job when starting from scratch.

We may have found our missing propane tank after Hurricane Irene swept through the village
On Sunday, August 28, 2011 Hurricane Irene swept through Vermont and caused major flooding. Our little shop is located in the village of Cuttingsville next to a bridge that spans Mill River. We had 4 feet of water in the shop and the large propane tank located on the outside of the building disappeared. A few days ago we began the spring cleanup around the yard and inspected the property. We made a surprising discovery under the bridge. Not sure yet if this is our propane tank but we found one wedged up under the bridge!
The local volunteer fire department was called immediately but they determined the tank was empty and called the energy company. The tank was retrieved 2 days later. The brave firefighters did a fantastic job responding to the call and it was a relief to find out we weren't in any danger. Thanks SVFD! My heroes!

The mid-wife of Mt. Holly, Vermont and her horse
According to the information on the back of this photo's frame this lady was a mid-wife who lived in Mt. Holly, Vermont. She drove around in a buggy to deliver babies. Does anyone know her name and the name of her horse? Judging by her clothing this photo may have been taken in the late 1800's or early 1900's.

Do you know where and when this fire happened?
These photos may have been taken here in Vermont but I have no way to be sure. There was no information on the back of these real photo post cards and I don't recognize the landmark. Fires are never a good thing and back then fire fighting apparatus was minimal at best.

Warren Battles in Florida
This old photo shows two gentlemen in a motor car wearing what appear to be police uniforms. Those look like uniforms and a badge to me. On the back of the photo is written 'Warren Battles in Fla.' but I'm not sure which of these fellows is Warren. Great motor car though!
